A different kind of service

Caledonian Psychiatry is a specialist psychiatric practice led by Dr David Crocker. Unlike larger services where you might see a different clinician at every appointment, here your assessment, your follow-ups, and your reports are all handled by the psychiatrist you choose, a highly experienced doctor who stays with you throughout your care. This matters. Psychiatric care works best when there is a relationship built on trust and continuity. When the person writing your report is the same person who sat with you through the assessment, the quality of that report is better. When the person adjusting your medication is the same person who started it, the decisions are safer. Continuity is not a luxury in psychiatry. It is the standard you should expect.

The practice is based at The Lighthouse in North Berwick, East Lothian. Appointments take place by secure video link from a private, dedicated clinical space using an encrypted platform.

You see your psychiatrist from wherever you are most comfortable: your home, your office, or anywhere with a private space and a reliable connection. There is no waiting room, no travel, and no time lost to your day. Many patients find that being in their own environment actually makes the conversation easier.

Caledonian Psychiatry is a Scottish independent practice and is Scotland’s first independent medical agency to be regulated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland (registration number 03427). The majority of our patients are based in Scotland. Because all appointments are delivered by secure video link, we are also able to see patients from elsewhere in the UK, and your location does not affect the standard of care you receive. All patients must be resident in the UK. We welcome patients of all backgrounds, identities and neurotypes.

Working alongside other professionals

Psychiatric care does not exist in isolation. Many patients also need support with their physical health, talking therapy, or other specialist input. The practice works alongside a network of trusted professionals (from GPs and psychologists to more specialised services) and can help guide you to the right place when something falls outside the scope of what we do here. For patients who may need a controlled medication such as a stimulant for ADHD, we will normally require a summary of your medical history from your GP before prescribing. This is a standard clinical safeguard. Whether that means liaising with your GP about shared care prescribing, recommending a therapist who specialises in your area of need, or writing to an employer or university on your behalf, we will help you access the support you need. You will not be left to navigate the system on your own.
